Free for everyone; an open-air monument with no staff, tickets or booking. No membership card is needed.
The Trust's page does not say how parking is charged.
OPW lists a car park among the site's facilities but states no charge; the village car park is beside the Famine Memorial, south-west of the graveyard and St Patrick's Church, about 90 m from the tower. No bus service is named.
Driving pin: the car park by the Famine Memorial, 94 m from OPW's own pin on the tower.
In Aghagower, ten minutes from Westport, a round tower and a ruined church stand in the graveyard of a monastery founded, tradition says, by St Senach, whom St Patrick made bishop here. Its name, Achadh Fhobhair, means the field of the springs, and it lay midway along Tóchar Phádraig, the pilgrim road from Ballintubber to Croagh Patrick, which made it one of Mayo's notable church centres. The tower, built in the late 11th or 12th century, stands about sixteen metres to its fourth floor, with its round-headed doorway high on the east side; local lore says lightning blew its top half a mile away, and the small conical capstone now sits on a pedestal beside the modern church. The late medieval church beside it reuses fragments of an earlier one. Around them are the pilgrims' stations: Patrick's Bed and two holy wells, one with a sheela-na-gig in its enclosure. Reviewers note that you can step inside the tower through a later doorway.
An unguided open-air national monument in OPW's care with no staff and no facilities. OPW warns that care and caution should be kept throughout a visit to its unguided sites.
OPW's status line: access available during daylight hours.
A working graveyard raised above the road; the tower is entered at ground level by a modern doorway; not wheelchair accessible by Google's reckoning. No toilets; a picnic area across the road by the stream is not OPW's.
