Corrieshalloch Gorge National Nature Reserve

Corrieshalloch Gorge is a mile-long slot canyon 12 miles from Ullapool where the River Droma drops 45 metres over the Falls of Measach, cut by glacial meltwater and now a National Nature Reserve in the care of the National Trust for Scotland. A short steep path from the car park leads to the Victorian suspension bridge of 1874, limited to six people at a time, which sways gently above the falls, and on to a cantilevered viewing platform on the far side with glimpses of Loch Broom; two short woodland trails and a wheelchair-friendly path to a bench complete the walks, and the damp gorge shelters ferns and a nationally rare cranefly.
