Free for everyone; an open-air monument with no staff, tickets or booking. No membership card is needed.
The Trust's page does not say how parking is charged.
OPW names no car park, but a small surface car park off the N15 is mapped 50 m north of the tomb with a path to the monument, and reviewers describe a decent amount of free parking right by the road; no tariff or free statement is published. The pub car park at Creevykeel crossroads 150 m west is private. OPW gives no directions or bus service.
Driving pin: the car park off the N15, 56 m from OPW's own pin on the tomb.
Beside the N15 about two kilometres north-east of Cliffoney in County Sligo lies what is considered the largest and finest example of a court tomb in Ireland, one of five megalithic monuments in the area, dating from the Neolithic between 4000 and 2500 BC. A long trapezoidal cairn of local grey sandstone, held by a stone revetment, opens through an entrance passage into an oval inner court fifteen metres by nine, whose largest stones flank the doorway to the two-part main chamber, once roofed by corbelling and floored with cobbles. Hugh O'Neill Hencken excavated it in 1935 for the Harvard archaeological mission, removing the whole cairn and replacing the stones, and found a polished diorite axe, pots, quartz crystals, a flint knife and an arrowhead, with the bones of sheep, pig and ox, fish and periwinkles. Local folklore tells of lights, fairies and a white hare. The tomb is free, unstaffed and a quick, easy roadside stop from the small car park beside it.
An unguided open-air national monument in OPW's care with no published hours, no staff and no facilities. OPW warns that care and caution should be kept throughout a visit to its unguided sites.
A short path from the roadside car park to the uneven stone cairn and grass; the entrance is not wheelchair accessible by Google's reckoning. No toilets. Hawthorns around the tomb are sometimes hung with ribbons.
