Houghton Mill

Houghton Mill is the last remaining working watermill on the Great Ouse, set on an island in the river near St Ives in Cambridgeshire. The present mill dates from the 17th century, though milling has taken place on this site since the 10th century as recorded in the Domesday Book. On milling days, visitors can watch the traditional millstones grinding organic wheat into flour, which is sold in the mill shop. The surrounding Waterclose Meadows provide tranquil riverside walks and picnic spots.
