Free for everyone; an open-air monument with no staff, tickets or booking. No membership card is needed.
The Trust's page does not say how parking is charged.
OPW names no car park and gives no directions; reviewers describe a parking area by the ruins big enough for cars and campervans on the L4510 between the cathedral and St Mary's Church. No tariff or free statement is published. OPW names no bus service.
Driving pin: the field gate on the L4510 beside the cathedral and round tower, 29 m from Google's listing; OPW's own directory pin for this entry is 13.7 km away near Kinvara Bay and plainly wrong.
Kilmacduagh, five kilometres south-west of Gort on the edge of the Burren, was founded in the seventh century: one story tells how St Meadoc, guided by an angel, healed Guaire, King of Connacht, who built the monastery in his honour, another how Colmán Mac Duagh founded it where his belt fell to the ground. In the twelfth century it became the seat of a diocese, and it was long associated with the O'Heynes and the O'Shaughnessys. The seven-storey round tower is the site's most impressive feature, 34.3 metres high and, like the tower of Pisa, leaning significantly; the OPW restored it in 1878 and 1971. Around it stand the multi-period cathedral, whose west gable is eleventh century, St John's Church, the abbot's house, O'Heyne's Church of the Augustinian canons, Templemurry with its carved cross-slab, and St Mary's Church across the road. Free, unstaffed and open-air, the site is surrounded by a working cemetery and grazing cattle, and some interiors are kept locked; park by the roadside gate below the tower.
An unguided open-air national monument in OPW's care with no published hours, no staff and no facilities; the grounds and graveyard are open while some church interiors are kept locked for security. OPW warns that care and caution should be kept throughout a visit to its unguided sites.
A working cemetery surrounds the cathedral and cattle graze the fields between the buildings, which are linked by stiles and field gates; O'Heyne's Church, OPW's separately listed Kilmacduagh Augustinian Friary, lies about 230 m north-west across the fields and is part of this visit. No toilets, cafe or shop.
