The Trust's page does not say how parking is charged.
Historic Scotland says parking is available, 3 miles north of Blackwaterfoot off the coastal road (A841), but publishes no charge or free statement, so the status is recorded as unknown. The car park on the A841 at Machrie is the start of the farm track; the cairn is about 650 m along it on the right, and the Machrie Moor stone circles are about a kilometre further on.
Driving pin: the Machrie Moor car park on the A841, shared with Machrie Moor Standing Stones. Arran is reached by CalMac ferry from Troon or Ardrossan to Brodick or from Claonaig to Lochranza; check CalMac's service status for the Troon and Ardrossan sailings. Historic Scotland gives journey planners only.
At the start of the farm track that crosses Machrie Moor on the west coast of Arran, about 650 m from the car park on the A841, a ring of boulders on the right looks like a stone circle but is in fact a Bronze Age ring cairn, used for burials. It was a low cairn of large boulders inside a ring of upright stones about 22 m across, with a stony bank outside. Seven uprights about 1.3 m tall still stand and five have fallen; the road and a fence cut through it, and centuries of stone robbing and dumping have taken their toll. It makes a fitting first stop on the way to the great stone circles of Machrie Moor, about another kilometre on, in a landscape used for ceremonies for more than 1,500 years, where timber circles were replaced by stone ones about 4,000 years ago. The track is easy but can be muddy after rain, so wear strong footwear.
Historic Scotland: 'Moss Farm Road Stone Circle is free to visit and open all year round.' No hours, closures or notices on 21 October 2026. Strong footwear is recommended.
The cairn lies beside the compacted farm track, which reviewers say can be muddy after rain, on open farmland. No toilets or other facilities.
