1 April to 30 September daily 9.30am to 5.30pm, last entry 30 minutes before closing; closed 1 October to 31 March. No works or masonry notice on 20 October 2026; summer visitors climb to the roof. Historic Scotland gives one closure for castle and chapel together and does not say whether the shoreside chapel and graveyard can be reached in winter.
The site sits on working farmland. A winding stair climbs to the roof, very windy with a waist-high parapet, so watch young children; restored rooms carry plaques. No toilets or facilities of Historic Scotland's; the seasonal Seafood Cabin next door is a private business.
