Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 July 2026

TrustQuest (“we”, “us”) helps you discover, track, and review Britain’s historic houses, castles, gardens and countryside. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to the TrustQuest website at trustquest.co.uk and the TrustQuest iOS app, which displays the same service.

TrustQuest is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any heritage organisation or charity.

Information we collect

  • Account information. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile image from that provider. We do not receive or store your password.
  • Content you create. Places you mark as visited, trips you plan, reviews and ratings you write, and photos you upload.
  • Location. If you use the “near me” and journey-planning features, your device provides your approximate location to find nearby places and plan routes. Your location is used only to fulfil that request and is not stored as a location history.
  • Photos. Photos you choose to upload are stored so they can be shown on your profile and on place pages.
  • Technical data. Basic information such as your device type and general usage needed to operate and secure the service.

How we use your information

  • To provide and personalise the service: your passport, visit history, trips, and reviews.
  • To show places near you and plan journeys when you ask.
  • To display your reviews, ratings, and photos to other users.
  • To operate, secure, maintain, and improve the service.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

How your information is shared

We share data only with the service providers that run TrustQuest:

  • Google & Apple: for sign-in.
  • Google Maps: to display maps and provide place search and journey planning.
  • Hosting & storage providers: our database host, image storage, and content delivery network, which store the data described above on our behalf.

Reviews, ratings, display name, profile image, and photos you upload are visible to other users of the service. We may also disclose information where required by law.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data, though some records may be retained briefly where required for legal or security reasons.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update much of your information in your account settings, or contact us to make a request. Under UK GDPR you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Children

TrustQuest is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date above.
