The Trust's page does not say how parking is charged.
OPW's own car park and coach park sit by the flags on the Donore road, with a covered pergola path of 250 m (about five minutes) to the visitor centre entrance and an overflow car park just east. OPW publishes no tariff and no free statement; Fáilte Ireland's listing says free car parking. From the centre it is a further 300 m over the suspension footbridge across the Boyne to the shuttle-bus stop, so allow time. Do not drive to Newgrange or Knowth themselves: there is no entry there. By car: M1 to the Donore exit (toll), 6 km to Donore and 1 km on to the car park, or from the N2 south of Slane following signs. TFI Local Link route 163 (Athboy to Drogheda) and a Bus Eireann service from Drogheda stop at the centre.

Brú na Bóinne is Ireland's richest archaeological landscape, a bend of the River Boyne holding the great passage tombs of Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth, built around 3200 BC, older than the pyramids of Giza, with the largest collection of megalithic art in western Europe. Every visit starts at OPW's visitor centre at Donore, whose interactive exhibition explores the Neolithic world and includes a full-size replica of the Newgrange passage; shuttle buses then cross the river to the monuments, the only way in. The main tour, from March to early November, walks round Knowth with its hundreds of decorated kerbstones and a climb to the top of the mound, then enters the narrow passage and corbelled chamber at Newgrange, where the guide recreates the shaft of sunlight that enters at dawn on the winter solstice. Tickets are strictly limited and timed, so book online weeks ahead; English Heritage members book the free English Heritage Card ticket and show the card. The monuments have no shelter, so dress for the weather.

From 2 November to 28 February the only tour is Newgrange Tour plus Exhibition; from 1 March to 1 November the main Brú na Bóinne Tour with the Newgrange chamber runs several times a day, with one Newgrange-only tour each morning and one Knowth-only tour each afternoon. Universal access is limited at the monuments: the Newgrange passage and chamber are low and narrow and unsuitable for anyone with claustrophobia or mobility difficulties, there is no access to the chambers at Knowth, and the monuments are outdoor sites with no shelter; contact the centre before booking if you need assistance. The centre has a lift, a cafe, bookshop and gift shop, picnic area, baby changing, toilets including an accessible toilet, WiFi and an audio guide for the exhibition; toilets also at Knowth and Newgrange but not at the bus stop. No photography in the passage or chamber at Newgrange. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Dowth, the third great mound, is on no tour; visitors may walk round its outside from the road on the north bank.
