The Trust's page does not say how parking is charged.
Historic Scotland names no parking: the fort is one mile south of Drem on a road off the B1377. A small car park for about three cars at a farm entrance, signposted from the minor road, is where reviewers start; no official charge or free statement exists, so the status is recorded as unknown.
Driving pin: the small car park, 329 m west-south-west of Historic Scotland's own pin. From there a worn path runs about 200 m through trees and across a field to a stile into the fort; keep to the signed route, which passes close to private property.
Chesters Hill Fort lies in farmland a mile south of Drem, with wide views over the Firth of Forth to Fife, and is one of the best-preserved Iron Age hillforts in Scotland. Probably built in the first millennium BC and lived in into the Roman period, it is an enclosure about 115 by 45 metres ringed by at least six earthwork ramparts up to five metres high, with elaborate entrances to the north-west and east. Traces of roundhouses inside, some overlying the defences, show at least two phases. Oddly, the fort is overlooked by higher ground to the south, leaving it open to arrows and slingshot, so it may have been built more for prestige than defence. From a signposted car park for about three cars at a farm entrance, a worn path leads through trees and across a field to a stile; it is muddy in wet weather, so keep to the signed route.
Historic Scotland: 'Chesters Hill Fort is free to visit and is open year-round.' No hours, closures or notices on 20 October 2026.
Access to the site is over a stile; the path can be muddy and slippery and is not suitable for wheelchairs. An interpretation panel shows how the fort may have looked. No toilets or other facilities.
