Historic Scotland: 'Hailes Castle is free to visit and open year-round'; no hours or closed days. Notice on 20 October 2026: while conservation works continue, the west end of the inner courtyard, the west tower and the east tower (doocot) are not accessible, with no end date; the east range ruins, the cellars and the grounds are open. Reviewers in spring 2026 found parts cordoned off.
An unstaffed open site with information panels; steps down to the cellars; a narrow gate and short tunnel from the lane. No toilets, cafe or shop; public toilets in East Linton and Haddington.
