Historic Scotland: 'Culross Abbey is free to visit and open year-round.' No hours, closures or notices on 20 October 2026. The ruins and the kirkyard are the visit: the abbey church (the former choir and tower) belongs to the Church of Scotland, which closed it and put it up for sale in August 2025, so its interior cannot be relied on.
The ruins stand on a steep slope with grass among the walls and undercrofts; no toilets, cafe or shop on site (cafes and toilets in the village below). The National Trust for Scotland's Culross Palace and the burgh are a short walk downhill.
