Hardwick Hall

Hardwick Hall is an Elizabethan masterpiece built in the 1590s by Bess of Hardwick, one of the richest women in England. Famous for its vast windows — inspiring the rhyme 'Hardwick Hall, more glass than wall' — the house contains outstanding tapestries and embroideries. The estate includes formal gardens, an Elizabethan herb garden, and the ruins of the adjacent Old Hall.
