Innisidgen's two Bronze Age burial chambers stand above the coast of St Mary's, where granite slabs and low stone kerbs mark communal monuments built thousands of years ago. The upper chamber is among the best-preserved entrance graves on Scilly, while the lower chamber offers a useful comparison with its surviving capstones and damaged mound. These tombs were empty when examined in modern times, so their significance comes from their construction and place in the islands' wider prehistoric landscape. Reviewers particularly enjoy the peaceful setting and views towards neighbouring islands, and point out that visiting requires a walk rather than a drive to the monument. The surrounding ground is hilly and uneven, so wear shoes with grip and allow time for the island approach. Visitor facilities are in Hugh Town, a couple of miles away; bring what you need for an exposed outdoor stop.
