The site is accessible all year round and, by OPW's Irish page, 24 hours a day. OPW's on-site guide service ran Wednesday to Sunday until 15:00 on 30 August 2026 and visits are self-guided from 31 August; the 2027 guide season is not yet published. Access is currently via the car park on the L1023. An audio tour follows QR codes along the path.
The field from the car park can be slippery when wet and the ground is steep and rough in places, with animals grazing; keep off the low walls and away from any conservation works. No toilets on site; the cafe at the old mill in the village is a short walk away. Allow time for the river walk.
Dogs: Pet dogs are allowed on a lead across the open-air site; sheep graze the approach field. On a lead through the precinct, the fields and along OPW's river walk, free at all times.
