Rievaulx Terrace is an 18th-century landscaped terrace above the ruins of Rievaulx Abbey in the Rye Valley. The half-mile grass terrace was designed to provide a series of carefully framed views down to the medieval abbey below. Two classical temples punctuate the walk, one containing a painted ceiling and period furnishings, offering a perfect marriage of art and landscape.
