1 April to 30 September daily 9.30am to 5.30pm; 1 October to 31 March 10am to 4pm, closed Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; last entry 45 minutes before closing; closed 25 and 26 December and 1 and 2 January. Notice on 18 October 2026: the museum and shop are closed during conservation and maintenance work and sections of the graveyard are fenced off because of unstable gravestones; the grounds are open free of charge. Free guided tours, ending with a climb of St Rule's Tower, can be arranged by email (standrewscathedral.vo@hes.scot; the phone line is down); donations welcome.
The memorial gate gives level access to a compacted gravel path down the length of the site; the grounds are mainly at ground level but with numerous steps, raised thresholds and gravestones and other trip hazards beside the paths. No toilets, cafe or shop open on site.
