A La Ronde is a unique 16-sided house built in 1796 for two spinster cousins, Jane and Mary Parminter, inspired by the Byzantine basilica of San Vitale in Ravenna. The interior is filled with extraordinary decorative work including a shell gallery made from 25,000 shells, feather friezes and sand-and-seaweed pictures. The house offers panoramic views across the Exe estuary from its quirky diamond-shaped and hexagonal windows.
