Bourne Mill is an elaborate Elizabethan fishing lodge built in 1591 from materials salvaged from the dissolved St John's Abbey in Colchester. The striking Dutch-gabled building was later converted to a working watermill, and the overshot waterwheel still turns today. The tranquil millpond and surrounding garden create a peaceful setting on the outskirts of Colchester.
