By road: take the B1025 towards Mersea to Copt Hall Lane and follow the lane to the car park. The map pin is the Trust's own place pin at the end of Copt Hall Lane, which the Google listing shares; it marks the farm entrance rather than a surveyed car park position.

Copt Hall Marshes is a working National Trust farm on the remote Blackwater Estuary at Little Wigborough in Essex, balancing arable cropping with coastal nature conservation. Field margins, scrub and hedgerows are kept for farmland birds such as corn bunting, yellowhammer, skylark and barn owl, and wet grassland and scrapes draw waders and wildfowl; in winter the fields and saltmarsh hold Brent geese, curlew and golden plover. Marked farm trails lead out to the sea wall and along it to a bird hide overlooking the scrapes, with views over the creeks at low tide. Reviewers value the silence and birdwatching but note this is a walk through a working farm with no staff, no toilets and no facilities, and that waymarking is sparse. Tips from visitors: the car park at the end of Copt Hall Lane is small, and the sea wall path does not loop, so you return the way you came. Dogs are welcome under close control or on leads, kept to the marked trails.
The National Trust calendar shows the countryside open 08:00 to 18:00 every day to 31 December 2026, matching the car park hours; the land is open farmland reached on foot from the car park.
No toilets and no facilities on site. Some areas may be difficult to access; the paths are permissive farm trails and the sea wall, and visitors report that wheels are not practical here.
Dogs are allowed under close control or on leads; keep to the marked trails on this working farm.
