Open 10am to 4pm all year, last admission 30 minutes before closing; closed 24, 25 and 26 December and 1 January. Visitor notice (17 October 2026): Cadw is assessing masonry repairs to the inner gatehouse and may restrict access to that part of the castle for safety while the work is planned. Cadw may close monuments at short notice in extreme weather.
Terrain level 3, moderate: the steep hilltop is reached only on foot and is unsuitable for wheelchair users; the grounds are uneven and sloped. The upper levels and the viewing platform are reached by a small set of historic spiral stairs in a narrow tower, uneven and wet in poor weather, with handrails; keep behind the guardrails, mind hidden drops and do not climb the walls. Toilets are at the beach car park, not the castle; no cafe or shop at the castle, with food and drink at the car park and in the village. Drones are not permitted.
Dogs: Dogs on short leads are welcome on the ground level of the castle; the spiral stair to the viewing platform is for assistance dogs only.
