Tudor Merchant's House on Quay Hill is a stone townhouse of about 1500 near Tenby harbour, built when the town was a busy port importing salt, linen and wine from France. Its three storeys are furnished as in 1500, with the merchant's shop and working kitchen on the ground floor and a first-floor hall hung with colourful wall hangings and replica Tudor furniture, while traces of wall paintings survive and a small garden lies behind. Reviewers say there is far more to see than the size suggests and praise the volunteers, whose talks go well beyond the information boards. Tips from visitors: ask the guides questions rather than just reading the boards, and there is no toilet and no parking, so follow the finger posts on foot from Tudor Square.
