Downhill Demesne is a dramatic clifftop estate on the north coast of County Londonderry, best known for the iconic Mussenden Temple perched on the cliff edge above the Atlantic. Built in 1785 by Frederick Hervey, Earl-Bishop of Derry, as a library, the circular temple was modelled on the Temple of Vesta at Tivoli. The ruins of Downhill House and the walled garden are also within the demesne.
