Edin's Hall Broch stands on the north-east slope of Cockburn Law above the wooded gorge of the Whiteadder Water near Abbey St Bathans, one of the very few brochs in lowland Scotland. It sits in one corner of an older hillfort, probably built 2,000 to 2,500 years ago, whose double ramparts enclose an oval about 135 by 75 metres. The broch, of the first two centuries AD, has the classic features: a wall more than five metres thick, an entrance passage with guard chambers on either side, chambers in the wall and a stair rising inside it. At 22 metres across it is far larger than a typical Highland broch and now stands about two metres high, so it may have been closer to a great roundhouse. It is reached only on foot, about a mile and a half each way from the car park on the A6112, over a footbridge and farmland with livestock and a stile.

Reached only on foot: about 1.5 miles each way from the A6112, over agricultural land that 'may be wet and muddy at times', with livestock nearby, a stile and a footbridge, and few direction signs on the way. An information panel at the site; no toilets or other facilities.

An 8.5 km (5.5 mile) moderate circular with 280 m of climb from the Riverside Car Park in Abbey St Bathans, by Toot Corner and the Eller Burn to the broch, with an optional ascent of Cockburn Law, then down to the Elba Footbridge over the Whiteadder gorge and back by road and track; a stile on the return; can be extended on the Southern Upland Way.
