Kinver Edge

Kinver Edge is a dramatic sandstone ridge on the Staffordshire-Worcestershire border, famous for its extraordinary rock houses carved into the soft red sandstone. People lived in these rock-cut dwellings from the 17th century until the 1960s, and the National Trust has restored several to show different periods of their history. The heathland above offers panoramic views across the Midlands, while the Holy Austin Rock houses are the last troglodyte dwellings in England.
