Witley Court is the roofless shell of a Victorian country house whose lavish entertaining came to an end before a devastating fire in 1937. Walk around the surviving architecture and use the displays and audio tour to imagine its furnished rooms and busy household. Formal gardens stretch out beyond the mansion, centred on the Perseus and Andromeda fountain, while woodland paths and a wilderness play area extend the visit for families. Reviewers particularly enjoy the fountain and recommend checking its operating times when arriving. Allow for the walk from the visitor centre to the house, and use the toilets there before setting out because there are none at the court itself. Dogs must remain on leads. Accessible paths reach the grounds and exterior, but wheelchair access does not extend inside the ruined house. An independently operated tearoom stands nearby.

Opening time details

Check fountain operating times on arrival. An independently operated tearoom beside the house normally opens April-October; its hours and dog policy require a separate check.

Open daily 10am-5pm until 24 October, then 10am-4pm from 25 October to 1 November. Weekends 10am-4pm from 2 November to 20 December. Check the official calendar for holiday and event exceptions.

Last entry is normally one hour before closing.

EH members receive free standard admission with their membership card. National Trust membership alone does not cover admission. Advance booking is optional for ordinary admission; special events may differ.

Wheelchair access to the visitor centre, exterior and grounds, but not the house. Garden steps can often be avoided on alternative hard paths. Six accessible bays near reception; arrange a drop-off closer to the court with staff. Some woodland paths are rough.
