Lantic Bay is an unspoilt stretch of Cornish coast between Polruan and Lansallos, where the South West Coast Path runs along the cliff tops and the craggy outcrop of Pencarrow Head rises high above the sea. From the National Trust car park a path crosses the fields before a steep, winding descent with steps to the beach, so this is a place for walkers, swimmers, anglers and anyone after clifftop views across to Gribbin Head. Livestock may graze the fields and headland, so keep to the footpaths. Reviewers say the clear water and quiet beach repay the effort, but almost all warn that the climb back up is long and tiring. Dogs are welcome all year on a short lead. The Pencarrow Head short walk loops round the headland and farmland from the car park. One practical tip: the parking machines take coins only, though JustPark also works, and the nearest toilets are at Lantivet Bay car park.
NT's calendar lists the coastline as open dawn to dusk.
Steep and uneven paths with a very steep slope and steps down to the beach. No toilets at the car park; the nearest NT toilet is at Lantivet Bay car park.
Daytime parking only; no overnight camping in NT car parks. Highertown Farm Campsite (National Trust) is nearby.
