Open 10am to 4pm all year, last admission 30 minutes before closing; closed 24, 25 and 26 December and 1 January. Cadw may close monuments at short notice in extreme weather.
Terrain level 2, easy: most of the site is flat and can be seen from ground level, with steps down to the lower sections and open water alongside. Cadw advises against using the stepping stones to cross the river, which are slippery, smooth and uneven and are covered at high tide; children must be supervised by the water. Horse riders cool their horses in the river and may use the path, and grazing livestock wander onto the site, so close the gate. No toilets, refreshments or shop; the nearest pub is across the river. Drones are not permitted.
Dogs: Dogs on short leads are welcome on the ground level of the castle; keep them away from the grazing livestock and the horses that use the river.
