Ormesby Hall

Ormesby Hall is a mid-18th-century Palladian mansion on the outskirts of Middlesbrough, a surprising oasis of Georgian elegance surrounded by modern suburbs. The house was built for the Pennyman family and features a fine entrance hall with intricate plasterwork attributed to the Italian stuccodore Cortese, and a striking Victorian laundry and stable block designed by the celebrated architect Detmar Blow. The walled garden has been restored with herbaceous borders and a cutting garden, while the wider estate includes woodland walks and a model railway.
