The Vyne is a Tudor mansion built in the early 16th century for Lord Sandys, Lord Chamberlain to Henry VIII. It was the first country house in England to have a classical portico, added in the 1650s. The house contains fine Tudor chapel stained glass, a Palladian staircase, and the atmospheric Stone Gallery.
