Basildon Park is a dramatic Palladian mansion built in the 1770s for Sir Francis Sykes, set in 400 acres of parkland and woodland overlooking the Thames Valley. The house was rescued from dereliction in the 1950s by Lord and Lady Iliffe and features beautifully restored interiors. It has been used as a filming location for Downton Abbey and Pride and Prejudice.
