Wall Roman Site

Wall Roman Site preserves part of Letocetum, a staging post on Watling Street where Roman officials, soldiers and messengers could rest and change horses. The remains include an inn for travellers and a bath complex with the sequence of cold, warm and hot rooms that formed part of Roman daily life. Interpretation boards explain the buildings, while the small museum displays finds from excavations when it is open. Reviewers particularly value the volunteers' explanations and recommend checking museum dates before travelling, since the outdoor ruins and museum have different access arrangements. The property is owned by the National Trust and managed by English Heritage, with free ordinary admission. Parking is a short distance from the entrance, but the archaeological remains are not wheelchair accessible and there is a step into the museum. Dogs on leads are welcome.
