About
Audley End House and Gardens reveals how a great country house worked, from grand reception rooms to the spaces that kept the household running. The Jacobean house contains state rooms, private apartments and an 1830s nursery with replica toys and costumes. In the Service Wing, the Victorian kitchens and domestic fittings introduce the world of cook Avis Crocombe, while the Coal Gallery explains another part of the servants' work. Outside, resident horses occupy the stables and Capability Brown's parkland surrounds formal planting and a productive kitchen garden. Reviewers particularly enjoy the gardens and praise the staff's knowledge, so leave time for the grounds as well as the house. Families can also explore the Cart Yard play area. Dogs on leads may accompany you outdoors, but house access requires stairs beyond the ground floor. Check current visitor notices before travelling, as filming can close parts or all of the estate.

Fully closed for filming on 18 and 21-24 September 2026. On 25-26 September the house is closed and gardens/estate tickets are discounted 30%; disruption may continue through 29 September.
Last entry to the house is 90 minutes before house closing; last entry to the stables, service wing and gardens is one hour before their closing.
The main vehicle gate is 9 ft 6 in high and 9 ft wide; contact staff if your vehicle is larger. The driving pin is the listed visitor car park reached through the signed estate entrance.
Current calendar: 28 September to 24 October 2026: House daily 10:30-16:00; Stables, Service Wing and Gardens daily 10:00-17:00. On Sunday 25 October the house closes at 15:00 and the grounds at 16:00.

The house's first floor requires stairs. Shop and toilets have level access and tearooms have ramps. Contact 01799 522842 to arrange wheelchair or mobility-scooter loans and check availability for special events.
English Heritage membership covers standard admission. National Trust membership alone does not cover entry. Special events may be charged separately.

Assistance dogs are welcome. No fixed seasonal dog ban confirmed. Full filming closures on 18 and 21-24 September 2026 also prevent grounds walks; house-only closures and disruption follow.
