The BBC Gardeners' World Autumn Fair on 11-13 September uses separate event tickets, with discounted rather than free EH member entry. Event parking arrangements may differ.
Last entry to the house is 90 minutes before house closing; last entry to the stables, service wing and gardens is one hour before their closing.
The main vehicle gate is 9 ft 6 in high and 9 ft wide; contact staff if your vehicle is larger. The driving pin is the listed visitor car park reached through the signed estate entrance.

The house's first floor requires stairs. Shop and toilets have level access and tearooms have ramps. Contact 01799 522842 to arrange wheelchair or mobility-scooter loans and check availability for special events.
English Heritage membership covers standard admission. National Trust membership alone does not cover entry. Special events may be charged separately.

Dogs at the location: Allowed with restrictions. Dogs on leads are permitted in the grounds. Pet access inside the house, service buildings, stables and cafes is Not confirmed by the facilities page; ask staff before entering. Assistance dogs are welcome.
Dog walks in the grounds: Allowed with restrictions. Dogs on leads may walk in the gardens and parkland with normal admission or eligible membership. Filming and special events may change which areas are open or require separate tickets.
Dog walks in the surrounding area: Not confirmed. Not confirmed: Saffron Walden has public open spaces, but a continuous nearby dog-walking route with current access, lead rules and parking arrangements was not verified. Do not assume the adjoining estate paths are public.
Leads: Dogs must be on leads in the grounds. Keep clear of resident horses and other animals and follow staff directions.
Seasonal dog restrictions: No fixed seasonal dog ban confirmed. Full filming closures on 18 and 21-24 September 2026 also prevent grounds walks; house-only closures and disruption follow.

Adult: standard-day walk-up, without donation. EH members enter free; online advance booking saves up to 15%. Under-5s free. Walk-up range: £23.60 off-peak to £29.00 peak. Excludes separately ticketed events, including the 11-13 September Autumn Fair.
Child (5-17): standard-day walk-up, without donation. Walk-up range: £11.80 off-peak to £14.50 peak.
Concession: standard-day walk-up, without donation. Walk-up range: £21.80 off-peak to £26.30 peak.
Family (2 adults, up to 3 children): standard-day walk-up, without donation. Walk-up range: £59.00 off-peak to £72.70 peak.

No charge for anyone.
Free visitor parking, with grass overflow. The access gate is 9 ft 6 in high and 9 ft wide. Special-event parking may differ.
