Brighstone Village Museum

Brighstone Village Museum belongs to North Street, a row of traditional cottages at the centre of Brighstone on the Isle of Wight that is owned by the National Trust. The museum is run by the Brighstone Museum Trust rather than the National Trust, and gives a view of village life in the 19th century: around a tableau of a rural cottage scene, display cases and panels cover Victorian schooling, employment, coastal activities and the influence of the church, along with the Brighstone lifeboats. The museum is now entered through the adjacent Brighstone Community Library, so it can be seen only when the library is open. The parish council's website lists the library and museum as temporarily closed, so check locally before making a special journey. The Trust's gift shop for this part of the island is at the entrance to nearby Mottistone Gardens.
