Brownsea Island

Brownsea Island is a 500-acre island in the middle of Poole Harbour, famous as the birthplace of the Scout and Guide movements, where Robert Baden-Powell held his first experimental camp in 1907. The island is a haven for rare red squirrels and a diverse range of wading birds in its saltwater lagoon. Visitors reach the island by boat and can explore woodland trails, beaches, and the Dorset Wildlife Trust nature reserve.
