Open all year 10am to 4pm; closed 24, 25 and 26 December and 1 January; the car park and toilets keep the same hours. No admission charge. The walls and remains stand along village roads and public paths. Cadw's notice: overnight camping is not permitted within the grounds, including tents, camper vans and motorhomes. Events in autumn 2026 include an evening of ghost stories on 31 October and a winter solstice evening on 21 November. Cadw may close monuments at short notice in extreme weather.
Terrain level 3, moderate: several sets of steps to the wall tops, a grassy path that is slippery when wet, and remains with low thresholds; a lower, more accessible grassy route runs below the walls and there is level access to the toilets. Bike access. Drones are not permitted.
Dogs: Cadw: 'Dogs welcome'; the town is on Cadw's dog-friendly days out list for south-east Wales, which asks for dogs under control and on a short lead at all times. An open-air, ground-level site; reviewers call it dog friendly.
