1 March to 30 September 10am to 5pm; 1 October to 28 February 10am to 4pm; last admission 30 minutes before closing; closed 24, 25 and 26 December and 1 January. The site is unstaffed; Cadw's staff are at the Roman Baths (03000 252239). Visitor notice (17 October 2026): the ground may become slippery and waterlogged after wet weather and the site may be closed temporarily in such conditions, so check with the Roman Baths before a winter visit.
Terrain level 2, easy, in good weather: the ground is grassed and uneven in places with numerous steep grassy slopes, and the grass path into the arena is steep, so it may not suit mobility aids; some of the steps down to the arena are incomplete and there are concealed unprotected drops of up to five metres at the edges, so keep away from them. Public toilets with accessible cubicles are at the bottom of the Broadway car park and in the National Roman Legion Museum opposite (free entry); no cafe or shop at the monument. Drones are not permitted.
Dogs: Dogs on short leads are welcome throughout the amphitheatre, an open-air site with no upper levels. The free Roman barracks, a few minutes' walk away along the flat path beside the school, carry the same short-lead rule.
