Cragside was the home of Victorian inventor and industrialist Lord Armstrong and was the first house in the world to be lit by hydroelectric power. The dramatic house is perched on a rocky crag above the Debdon Burn, surrounded by one of the largest rock gardens in Europe and over 1,700 acres of forest and moorland. The estate contains over 7 million trees and 40 miles of footpaths.
