Lamb House

Lamb House is a handsome Georgian house on a cobbled street in the hilltop town of Rye, famous as the home of the novelist Henry James from 1898 to 1916. James wrote some of his greatest works here, including The Wings of the Dove and The Golden Bowl. The house was later home to E.F. Benson, author of the Mapp and Lucia novels, who used the house as the model for Miss Mapp's home. The walled garden provides a peaceful retreat with herbaceous borders and fine views.
