Smallhythe Place

Smallhythe Place is a charming early 16th-century half-timbered house near Tenterden that was the home of the great Victorian actress Ellen Terry from 1899 until her death in 1928. The house is preserved as a shrine to her career, containing her theatrical costumes, personal possessions and a remarkable collection of memorabilia from the golden age of the Victorian and Edwardian stage. The cottage garden and orchard surround a small barn theatre where performances are still held each summer.
