A half-mile track leads from parking to the manor. Pedestrian access during reasonable daylight is normally allowed beyond car park hours, subject to the current closure notices.

Penhallam Manor preserves the low foundations of a moated medieval house built by the de Cardinham family, with its main construction attributed to Andrew de Cardinham in the 13th century. Abandonment in the following century left a complete ground plan without the later rebuilding that altered many comparable houses. Today the grass-covered walls, moat and interpretation boards suggest the scale of a once substantial household in a wooded Cornish setting. Visitors particularly enjoy the quiet approach, although recent accounts also describe the closed moat bridge. The bridge closure currently limits the visit to exterior viewing, so the rooms within the ruined manor cannot be entered. A half-mile walk along a woodland track connects the small car park with the site; wear footwear suitable for mud and check current closure notices before travelling. Dogs are welcome on leads.
Open any reasonable time during daylight hours. Car park is open from 10am-6pm April to October and 10am-4pm November to March.
External viewing only because the moat bridge is closed; no access inside the ruined manor. Grass and woodland paths can be muddy, with no solid shelter.
Penhallam Manor is closed from 18 September to 4 October 2026, according to the official notice. Check the official page before travelling. The existing bridge closure also prevents access inside the manor.
Admission is free for everyone; any parking or transport charges are separate.
Dogs: Dogs on leads are welcome in open areas and on the woodland approach; obey site closures.

Half-mile track from the free car park to the manor, on foot. Normally daylight access; car park closes at 18:00 April-October and 16:00 November-March. The bridge is closed and the whole site is scheduled to close 18 September-4 October 2026.
