St Helens Duver is a sandy spit on the eastern tip of the Isle of Wight, where short turf, dunes, beach, rock pools and coastal woods sit beside Bembridge Harbour. In Victorian times it was home to the Royal Isle of Wight Golf Club, one of England's first golf courses, whose members included royalty and celebrities. Today Hebridean sheep graze the common, red squirrels live in the woods, and wasp spiders and burrowing digger wasps hide in the grass, while the limestone ledges at Nodes Point are good for rock pooling. Reviewers single out the rock pools at low tide and the beachside cafe. Tips from visitors: the shallow beach suits young swimmers, and the woodland path behind the beach gets very muddy. Dogs are welcome across the Duver and on the beach, on a short lead around livestock. The easy Down on the Duver circular walk starts from the car park and passes the old golf club and St Helens' Old Church.
Open countryside and beach, dawn to dusk. No overnight parking.
Beach access is by sandy paths with a ramp onto the soft sand; at high tide the top of the beach can be covered. The Duver itself has short turf and gently undulating ground with no gates or stiles.
The path in the woods behind the beach can be very muddy and has steps.
Free for everyone to visit the Duver and beach. Parking is charged separately for non-members through JustPark; the tariff is not published.
The Trust's page does not say how parking is charged.
