Swan Barn Farm is a pocket of National Trust meadows, orchard and woodland 50 metres from Haslemere High Street, reached by a footpath off Well Lane past an old town well that sold water at a penny ha'penny a bucket. The restored orchard keeps seven surviving old trees alongside trees planted in 2001, and Belted Galloway cattle graze the pastures to keep them flower-rich. The Speckled Wood eco-house, built from Black Down Estate timber, can be seen from the footpath but is not open. The 64-mile Serpent Trail starts here, linking to the Sussex Border Path and Greensand Way. Reviewers like how quickly the town gives way to meadows and woods, and the berries in late summer. Tips from visitors: the fields and Longmoor Woods are boggy in any season, so wear boots, and park in town, as there is none at the farm. Dogs are welcome under close control as livestock graze the meadows. The 1.7-mile well, woodland and meadow walk is a circular route from the High Street.
The National Trust calendar shows the countryside fully open dawn to dusk every day through 31 December 2026. The Speckled Wood eco-house and the buildings beside it are not open to visitors; view them from the public footpath and the orchard.
No toilets at the farm; public toilets at the High Street car park, Haslemere, GU27 2HQ. Several narrow kissing gates, rustic bridges and often boggy, root-crossed paths: not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. The Trust publishes a Swan Barn Farm access statement and a PDF map.
Dogs are welcome under close control, as Belted Galloway cattle and other livestock graze the meadows. There are no dog bins, so take waste home.

Dog walks in the grounds: Allowed with restrictions. Dogs can walk the meadows and Longmoor Woods under close control because livestock graze the meadows; no dog bins. Free access, no ticket needed.
Leads: Close control; livestock graze the meadows.
