The abbey is open all year during reasonable daylight hours with no admission charge. The Greenfield Valley Trust's museum, farm, play areas and visitor centre need a day ticket (adult £9) from late March to 1 November, 10am to 4.30pm; the woodlands, the valley walk and the abbey are free. Cadw may close monuments at short notice in extreme weather.
Terrain level 1, accessible: the site is relatively flat with some low historic thresholds to trip over, reached by a short steep path from the car park. Toilets, an accessible toilet and a changing facility are available at the heritage park without paying admission, and Y Caffi in Basingwerk House beside the abbey opens daily 10am to 4pm. No information panels on the ruins. Drones are not permitted.
Dogs: Dogs on short leads are welcome on the ground level of the abbey, which is the whole site. The Trust's valley walk from the abbey to St Winefride's Well through the free woodlands admits dogs on a lead.
