Free entry for everyone; no membership card is needed.
Arrive on foot, by bike or by public transport.
Cadw lists no designated parking. Visitors use the gravel pull-in beside the field entrance, marked by a sign and gate, with room for about three cars, then walk about 60 m across a level sheep field that can be muddy to the railed tomb. Give any lambs inside the railing space to leave.
Driving pin: Cadw's own arrival point on the lane at the field gate, 58 m south-south-west of its marker on the tomb. Cadw publishes no postcode; Google gives LL60 6NH. By road: near Bodowyr farm, 1.25 miles east of Llangaffo off the B4419, 5 miles from Llanfair PG. By rail: Llanfair PG, 8 km. National Cycle Network route 8 passes the site.
Bodowyr Chambered Tomb, Beddrod Siambr Bodowyr, is a striking landmark on a hillock backed by panoramic views of Eryri, in a sheep field near Bodowyr farm two kilometres east of Llangaffo on Anglesey. Its massive mushroom-shaped capstone was originally supported by four tall standing stones, one of which fell at some point over the last few millennia, and a fifth, shorter stone is believed to mark what was once the tomb's entrance; three uprights now carry the capstone. Built in Neolithic times and once covered in earth, it is most likely a passage grave for communal burial, but it has never been excavated, so who lies here remains a mystery. Reviewers find a gentle, unassuming cromlech on a windswept spot, worth a quick visit for the views to Snowdon and the Glyderau. One tip from visitors: park in the gravel pull-in by the sign and field gate, room for about three cars, and expect a muddy field.
Open all year during reasonable daylight hours; no admission charge. Cadw may close monuments at short notice in extreme weather.
Terrain level 3, moderate: a field entrance and grass that is muddy when wet, not suitable for wheelchairs, with sheep grazing; the tomb is enclosed by a metal railing and must not be climbed. No facilities. Drones are not permitted.
