Brodsworth Hall preserves a Victorian country house much as it was left after the death of its last owner in 1988, with the marks of everyday life forming part of its story. Volunteer room stewards explain the rooms and their occupants, while exhibitions offer another way into the history. Outside, restored pleasure gardens unfold into smaller spaces, with formal planting, a quarry garden and places to sit. Children have an outdoor play area, and the tearoom in the servants' wing makes a useful stopping point. Reviewers particularly enjoy the planting, approachable volunteers and opportunities for a picnic. Allow time for the gardens as well as the house; regular visitors find the borders rewarding in different seasons. The upper floors are currently closed, and fragile interiors cannot accommodate pushchairs or baby back carriers. Pet dogs are not admitted anywhere on the site.

Opening time details

The upper floors of the hall are closed; ground floor and gardens remain open. No confirmed reopening date is given.

Grounds daily 10am-5pm until 24 October, then 10am-4pm to 1 November. House and servants’ wing 11:30am-3:30pm, last house entry 3pm. From 2 November to 20 December, grounds open weekends 10am-4pm, house closed and servants’ wing weekends 11am-2pm. Upper-floor closure remains in force.

EH members receive free standard admission with their membership card. National Trust membership alone does not cover admission. Advance booking is optional for ordinary admission; special events may differ.

Upper floors are currently closed, overriding the general access page description of the Victorian lift. Ground-floor rooms are level, with ramps to the shop and tearoom. Gardens include tarmac and gravel paths. A buggy service runs from the visitor centre; contact the property about suitability and availability.
