Craflwyn and Beddgelert takes in Nant Gwynant, one of the most dramatic valleys in Wales, where the Afon Glaslyn runs through Llyn Gwynant and Llyn Dinas and down the Aberglaslyn Pass, beneath the slopes of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). The 200-acre Craflwyn estate sits at its heart, and legend is everywhere: Dinas Emrys, the hill where the Welsh dragon is said to sleep, carries the remains of a tower of the princes of Gwynedd, while Beddgelert takes its name from Gelert, the faithful hound of Prince Llywelyn. The Trust's trails range from the easy 1-mile Gelert's grave walk, suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs, to the 2.2-mile Dinas Emrys trail and the challenging 5.7-mile Aberglaslyn, Llyn Dinas and Cwm Bychan walk from Nantmor. Dogs are allowed but must stay on a lead at all times because of livestock. Reviewers who have stayed on the estate praise having the hills and lakes on the doorstep, and Beddgelert's pubs and places to eat. Craflwyn Hall is a private holiday let with no cafe; toilets are at Craflwyn car park, and the Nantmor pay machine takes coins only.
