Dinas Dinlle is an Iron Age coastal hillfort above the shore south-west of Caernarfon, whose name recalls Lleu Llaw Gyffes, a hero of the medieval Welsh tales of the Mabinogi. The sea has already cut away 20 to 40 metres of its western defences since 1900, and Wales's Royal Commission on historic monuments warns the fort could be lost within 500 years if erosion speeds up. Excavations that began in 2019 uncovered a stone roundhouse about 13 metres across, among the largest found in Wales, with Roman pottery near its walls, and its remains can now be seen inside the ramparts. From the top the views run along the coast to Yr Eifl on the Llŷn peninsula. Reviewers say the fort is a short walk from the car park, but the sides are steep before the ground levels out. Dogs must stay on a lead because livestock graze here. The seafront cafes and toilets are not run by the Trust.
NT's calendar lists the coastline and hillfort as open all day.
Steep incline with steps up to the fort; conditions depend on the weather.
Cafes, a fish and chip shop, a gift shop and public toilets, including accessible toilets, are by the car park and are not run by the National Trust.

Free to visit for everyone. Parking is in a car park not run by the National Trust; any charges there apply separately.
The Trust's page does not say how parking is charged.
The National Trust page lists a free car park at Dinas Dinlle that is not run by the Trust (Gwynedd Council's seafront car park). Recent visitor reviews and local press (Cambrian News) report that the council now charges beyond a free first hour, so current charges are not confirmed here; check signs on arrival.
Driving pin: Google's 'Dinas Dinlle Car Park' listing, about 35 m from NT's own coordinate and at the end of NT's road directions ('continue down narrow road until you reach the coast and car park (non National Trust)'). The hillfort is a short, steep walk south.
