Ilam Park is a beautiful parkland estate in the Manifold Valley on the southern edge of the Peak District, forming the gateway to the dramatic limestone dale of Dovedale. The park surrounds Ilam Hall, a Gothic Revival mansion partly demolished in the 1930s but now serving as a youth hostel. The grounds feature the 'Paradise Walk' along the River Manifold, which famously disappears underground before re-emerging at 'boil holes' in the park. Dovedale itself, with its famous stepping stones and towering limestone pinnacles, is one of the Peak District's most celebrated landscapes.
