Llanbedrog Beach

Llanbedrog Beach is a sheltered stretch of sand on the south coast of the Llyn Peninsula near Pwllheli, best known for the row of colourful beach huts that can still be hired from the Trust. Calm water facing Cardigan Bay makes it a paddling beach, and the wooded, craggy headland of Mynydd Tir-y-Cwmwd rises behind it. The Trust's walking trail climbs through the woodland to the headland top, where the Tin Man sculpture looks out over the peninsula and the bay; the trail passes Plas Glyn y Weddw, the Gothic mansion of 1857 that is the oldest art gallery in Wales. Reviewers praise the clean sand and calm water, and the beach bar for ice cream. Tips from visitors: parking is free for members, and the track from the car park down to the sand is a 200-metre slope with steps.
